Is your child interested becoming a firefighter when they grow up?
If you child has an interest in firefighting or emergency services in general, they may be able to join a local Youth in Emergency Services (YES) cadet program.

Commencing in 2018, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) formed the YES cadet program to build young people’s skills, knowledge and understanding of the volunteer emergency services, the hazards in their communities and how best to respond to them.

The training program is led by emergency services volunteers and personnel, and exposes young people to all the emergency services active in their local community.
Young people involved learn life skills that they can take with them into their workplaces and their lives beyond school.
